WELCOME
Our family has been living at Killruddery since 1618 and today we are very happy that three generations live here. Living heritage on Dublin’s doorstep!
Killruddery is a true celebration of the great outdoors and an authentic, bio-diverse space. We continue to meet long-standing Members who enjoy Killruddery as their own back garden; it is our delight to build a strong community here who are as passionate about conserving this estate as we are. We produce chemical-free vegetables, fruit, cut-flowers and free-range meats for our Farm Shop and all our ‘garden-to-plate’ menus for The Grain Store, Pizza Shed, Coffee Shop, Tea Room and Carrot & Coffee Corner.
Over the past decade, we have responded to the challenge of preserving the House and Gardens by transforming Killruddery into a popular visitor attraction on Ireland’s Ancient East, a working farm and a private hire venue for weddings and corporate events. However, at the heart of this enterprise, we wish to protect Killruddery’s soul and unique character as our special family home.
You are most welcome. We hope you will enjoy your visit and return again and again.
Earl and Countess of Meath, Lord and Lady Ardee and the Brabazon family.

‘FLOWERS AND LIGHT’, A RESIDENT ARTIST EXHIBITION: YEOUNG A YEO
PLACE: PIZZA SHED
PRICE: FREE ENTRY
EVENT DESCRIPTION:
You are invited to come and view ‘Flowers and Light’, an exhibition of paintings by our current Artist in Residence, Yeoung A Yeo, taking place during Pizza Shed opening hours from Thursday, 14th September to Sunday, 29th October.
Having exhibited internationally, we are delighted to have eight of Yeoung A Yeo’s oil paintings on display and available to purchase. Depicting a number of subjects including flowers and nature scenes as well as every day objects, Yeoung A Yeo’s works explore the contrasts of light and shade, something she has been hugely inspired by since moving to Ireland in 2010.
No advance booking for this exhibition is required.ABOUT YEOUNG A YEO:
Yeoung A Yeo was born in Busan, South Korea. Having painted since she was a toddler and received formal art education as a child, Yeoung A Yeo graduated from university in 1998 with a degree in fine art painting. After graduation, Yeoung A Yeo’s professional career in South Korea included teaching art for over 10 years, and time spent as a designer in an advertising agency. With each experience, she grew as a painter and learned to love her skill even more.
Yeoung A Yeo has been living and working in Dublin since 2010, and she has found Ireland hugely inspirational. Speaking about her experience living in Ireland, she says “Ireland has as many hours without sunlight as it does, with intense contrasts of light. However, the light I thought was absent was always there in the shade. Finding the light in the shadows always inspires me.”FAQ:

CULTURE NIGHT AT KILLRUDDERY
FRIDAY, 22ND SEPTEMBER
FREE OF CHARGE
PLACE: KILLRUDDERY GARDENS
EVENT DESCRIPTION:
To celebrate Culture Night 2023, Anthony and Fionnuala Brabazon, Lord and Lady Ardee are delighted to invite you to Killruddery to experience the 17th century heritage gardens of this privately owned Wicklow estate.
Come and enjoy dusk in the formal gardens of Killruddery between 18.00 and 20.00, with access through our Garden Entrance Shop. Pre-booking not required.
ABOUT OUR GARDENS:
Killruddery gardens are among the very few remaining 17th century gardens in Ireland or Britain. They offer stunning vistas, leading the eye into landscape features with the natural background of the Little Sugar Loaf and Bray Head.
The gardens represent a ‘labour of love’ begun by the fourth and sixth Earl of Meath, continued over many generations and actively pursued by the Brabazon family today. The gardens have some twenty acres of grass, long flowering borders, ancient trees and three and a half miles of hedges – all of which must be cut, trimmed and otherwise maintained over the seasons of the year.
Designed in the Baroque style by Hugenot, Bonet (a descendent of great landscape designer, André le Nôtre, who is famous for the gardens of the Palace of Versailles near Paris), he worked within the contours of the landscape and a record dating from 1711 reports that Killruddery was endowed with ‘a Pleasure Garden, Wilderness, Gravel Walks and Bowling Green, all Wall’d about, and well planted with Fruit Trees, with several Canals or Fish-ponds, well stor’d with Carp and Trench...’
The Brabazon family have been living at Killruddery since 1618 and today we are very happy that three generations of our family live here. We have responded to the challenge of preserving the 17th century gardens, with 18th and 19th century additions, together with the house. We strive to ensure that the ingredients which make them so special are protected for our community, visitors and family.
We hope you enjoy stepping back in time during your visit. For more information on our Gardens, visit our website.
