EVENT DESCRIPTION

Join us on Midsummer’s Night to create your own, glorious Midsummer Flower Crown to celebrate the longest day and the height of summer. A flower crown is an ancient symbol of the sun, woven by women throughout history. Join us to continue the magic!

Hosted by Killruddery Cut Flowers Florist Hanka Miziova, in this workshop, you will use cut flowers and greenery provided from our cut flower border and hedgerows to create a beautiful floral crown.

During this workshop, Hanka will demonstrate the mechanics of creating a flower crown before helping each participant in the creation of their own. This is a short and sweet workshop, where you will leave with new or improved skills and your own crown to celebrate this summer solstice.

Our Gardens will be open late for this evening allowing you to enjoy a jaunt through our 17th-century heritage Gardens post-workshop, crowned with your beautiful, floral creation.

You are invited to find a friend, book in, and prepare to toast to an evening of floral creativity on this special occasion!

ABOUT HANKA:

Hanka Miziova, our Florist at Killruddery, originally trained as a landscape architect.

Passionate about all things floral, right after completing her master's degree in landscape design and urbanism, Hanka went on to train in floristry and opened her own floral business. After four years she decided to pursue a career in high-end event floristry and get more in touch with the harvesting process in Vienna.

Consequently, she went on to work in various locations all around Italy where she could experience the fast-paced nature of creating floral designs for large-scale events as well as get to see the use of native florals in their natural conditions.

With eight years of experience in floristry and limitless curiosity about seasonal floral possibilities, Hanka places importance on strengthening the connection that people have with flowers and perceives flowers to be a delicate means to bring people closer to nature in a creative and meaningful way.
