EVENT DESCRIPTION
Lord and Lady Ardee invite you to join esteemed Zoë Conway (fiddle, voice & composer) & John McIntyre (guitar & voice)
'Simply one of the best folk duos on the planet' according to the BBC, Zoë Conway and John Mc Intyre play a mix of old and new traditional Irish music and song, with an emphasis on music that they have composed themselves. With an exciting blend of eclectic fiddle and guitar music, they bring to the stage sympathetic arrangements of traditional Irish music, compositions and songs, old and new. The husband and wife folk duo from the Cooley Peninsula possess a rare facility to draw pieces into their repertoire from other genres such as classical, jazz and world music and express this material in a way that not only displays the sheer range and knowledge of both instrumentalists but also exhibits the wonderful versatility of their instruments. Their contemporary take on Irish traditional music shows that Ireland's culture and heritage is living, breathing, developing and flourishing.
"Folk Instrumentalist of the Year 2020" RTE Radio 1 Folk Awards (Zoë)
"Featured Composer 2021" ITMA Irish Traditional Music Archive (Zoë)
