ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP

Grow and pick daily vegetables for your home. In this workshop you will gain expert advise about how to grow your own food drawn from our experience of growing and harvesting food at Killruddery.

Learn how to create kitchen garden beds that produce most of the year, with practical guidance on everything from seed sowing and propagation to soil preparation, pest management and succession planting. We'll cover the most productive varieties and a few special varieties as well as the techniques that help maximise growth in any space, large or small.

See how we grow in our garden and learn valuable tips to grow and harvest, for homegrown abundance, all year round.

ABOUT OUR KITCHEN GARDEN

In 2009 we began to awake the sleeping Walled Garden which had lain dormant since the late seventies, apart from a producing Apple Orchard and a few hidden vines. As we developed our kitchen culture, we began to garden vegetables once again. We now have a productive Kitchen Garden and an additional farm field and at the height of summer 95% of the vegetables used in our Award Winning restaurant and Farm Shop are grown in our Gardens by Pat and the garden team. We are prolific, we do this using organic principles.

ABOUT PAT KEADY

Pat grew up surrounded and immersed in nature not knowing the meaning of the word biodiversity but piecing together the web of life bit by bit, this early involvement shaped him as a person who understands the need to protect and promote nature in everything we do. This is a major part of why Pat became a grower,a journey that brought him to Cork to study sustainable horticulture, then on to run his own market garden in Connemara and now here in Killruddery growing chemical free vegetables. He is constantly trying to improve and learn new methods to grow healthy nutritious veg on a large scale, while protecting and promoting nature.
