VINCENT SHERIDAN EXHIBITION 'MURMURATIONS'

About this experience

Date: 8TH MARCH - 8TH MAY

Tickets: FREE ADMISSION

Place: KILLRUDDERY YARD

Vincent Sheridan’s art practice delves into the complex social behaviours and mesmerising flight dynamics of birds, particularly crows, swifts and starlings. His fascination lies in the intricate ‘murmurations’ — the captivating, brushstroke-like patterns formed by flocks in motion. This evocative imagery is central to Sheridan’s exploration of avian motion and serves as both a subject and a metaphor, drawing parallels between avian and human social interactions.

An award-winning printmaker, Sheridan was born in County Kildare and studied at the Dublin Institute of Technology and the National College of Art and Design, Dublin. He has worked as a full-time artist for over 20 years. He has travelled extensively and spent time in the Canadian High Arctic. For part of 1991, he was artist-in-residence at the West Baffin Eskimo Co-operative, Cape Dorset.

“And over his shoulder a glimpse of starlings

Suddenly lifted over field, road and river

Like a fist of black dust pitched in the wind.”

- “A Glimpse of Starlings” Brendan Kennelly.

The exhibition will run from 8th March until the 8th of May 2025 at Killruddery Yard. Open Daily 9am - 5pm. Free parking and admission.
