‘FLOWERS AND LIGHT’, A RESIDENT ARTIST EXHIBITION: YEOUNG A YEO
PLACE: PIZZA SHED
PRICE: FREE ENTRY
EVENT DESCRIPTION:
You are invited to come and view ‘Flowers and Light’, an exhibition of paintings by our current Artist in Residence, Yeoung A Yeo, taking place during Pizza Shed opening hours from Thursday, 14th September to Sunday, 29th October.
Having exhibited internationally, we are delighted to have eight of Yeoung A Yeo’s oil paintings on display and available to purchase. Depicting a number of subjects including flowers and nature scenes as well as every day objects, Yeoung A Yeo’s works explore the contrasts of light and shade, something she has been hugely inspired by since moving to Ireland in 2010.
No advance booking for this exhibition is required.ABOUT YEOUNG A YEO:
Yeoung A Yeo was born in Busan, South Korea. Having painted since she was a toddler and received formal art education as a child, Yeoung A Yeo graduated from university in 1998 with a degree in fine art painting. After graduation, Yeoung A Yeo’s professional career in South Korea included teaching art for over 10 years, and time spent as a designer in an advertising agency. With each experience, she grew as a painter and learned to love her skill even more.
Yeoung A Yeo has been living and working in Dublin since 2010, and she has found Ireland hugely inspirational. Speaking about her experience living in Ireland, she says “Ireland has as many hours without sunlight as it does, with intense contrasts of light. However, the light I thought was absent was always there in the shade. Finding the light in the shadows always inspires me.”FAQ:

CULTURE NIGHT AT KILLRUDDERY
FRIDAY, 22ND SEPTEMBER
FREE OF CHARGE
PLACE: KILLRUDDERY GARDENS
EVENT DESCRIPTION:
To celebrate Culture Night 2023, Anthony and Fionnuala Brabazon, Lord and Lady Ardee are delighted to invite you to Killruddery to experience the 17th century heritage gardens of this privately owned Wicklow estate.
Come and enjoy dusk in the formal gardens of Killruddery between 18.00 and 20.00, with access through our Garden Entrance Shop. Pre-booking not required.
ABOUT OUR GARDENS:
Killruddery gardens are among the very few remaining 17th century gardens in Ireland or Britain. They offer stunning vistas, leading the eye into landscape features with the natural background of the Little Sugar Loaf and Bray Head.
The gardens represent a ‘labour of love’ begun by the fourth and sixth Earl of Meath, continued over many generations and actively pursued by the Brabazon family today. The gardens have some twenty acres of grass, long flowering borders, ancient trees and three and a half miles of hedges – all of which must be cut, trimmed and otherwise maintained over the seasons of the year.
Designed in the Baroque style by Hugenot, Bonet (a descendent of great landscape designer, André le Nôtre, who is famous for the gardens of the Palace of Versailles near Paris), he worked within the contours of the landscape and a record dating from 1711 reports that Killruddery was endowed with ‘a Pleasure Garden, Wilderness, Gravel Walks and Bowling Green, all Wall’d about, and well planted with Fruit Trees, with several Canals or Fish-ponds, well stor’d with Carp and Trench...’
The Brabazon family have been living at Killruddery since 1618 and today we are very happy that three generations of our family live here. We have responded to the challenge of preserving the 17th century gardens, with 18th and 19th century additions, together with the house. We strive to ensure that the ingredients which make them so special are protected for our community, visitors and family.
We hope you enjoy stepping back in time during your visit. For more information on our Gardens, visit our website.

‘ONE NIGHT, TWO JOURNEYS’ – ROGER DOYLE & VYVIENNE LONG IN CONCERT
PRE-CONCERT DINNER + CONCERT TICKET: ADULT: €69 ADULT MEMBER: €62
CONCERT TICKET ONLY: ADULT: €20 ADULT MEMBER: €18
EVENT DESCRIPTION
Anthony and Fionnuala Brabazon, Lord and Lady Ardee are delighted to welcome Vyvienne Long and Roger Doyle on Friday, 29th September for an evening of music.
Taking place in The Orangery, this concert promises to bring the audience on two fantastic journeys, one to the wonderland of internationally renowned, local pianist and composer, Roger Doyle where the unexpected can be relied upon, harmonically inviting you to languish in the atonal soundscape of mystery and madness.
The second half of the concert will then arrive at a familiar destination - the singer songwriter genre. The songs and delicately considered piano accompaniment of singer and cellist, Vyvienne Long are sweetly and unapologetically honest, but be prepared to interrupt the sonic languishing with intermittent belly ache laughter.
Bound to be a wonderful night of original music, make an evening of it with a special pre-concert dinner in The Grain Store, featuring a seasonal set menu of fare grown and reared in Killruddery, just a few metres away from your concert venue.
The pre-concert dinner will begin at 18.30, with the concert beginning at 21.00 for a duration of one hour.
ABOUT VYVIENNE LONG:
What makes Vyvienne’s music so unusual is that she was the first to conceive and perform ‘cello song’ in Europe, enchanting festival-goers with her astonishing cover of The White Stripes’ Seven Nation Army. She has performed at venues worldwide since, including the Olympia Paris, Radio City New York, Glastonbury, Coachella and Wembley Arena and collaborated with artists such as Ed Sheeran, DJ Kormac and most recently the Irish Chamber Orchestra.
Critics have compared her combination of subtle demeanour and heavyweight musical power with Bjork, Tori Amos and Joanna Newsom. Visit www.vyviennelong.com for more.ABOUT ROGER DOYLE:
Roger Doyle is known for his pioneering work as a composer of electronic music. He has worked extensively in theatre, film and dance, in particular with the music-theatre company Operating Theatre, which he co-founded with the performer Olwen Fouréré. Works of his include his magnum opus, ‘Babel’ which took ten years to compose, along with an onstage piano score for the Gate Theatre production of Salomé, which played in London’s West End and on three world tours. Roger is a member of Aosdána, Ireland’s state-sponsored academy of creative artists and was recently elected to the higher honour of Saoi conferred on him by President Michael D. Higgins. ABOUT THEIR LIVES MATTER
Their Lives Matter was founded by Bray native Dr. Trish Scanlan in a tiny ward in Tanzania with a team that included one local medical colleague and five nurses. Before this wonderful charity was founded, nine out of ten children with cancer who reached treatment facilities in Tanzania, died. In addition to this, those that reached these facilities represented less than 10% of children with cancer in Tanzania. As a result - in overall terms a cancer diagnosis was fatal for almost every child in the country. In 2005, less than 10 percent of children diagnosed with cancer survived; now over 50% of children diagnosed with cancer survive as a result of the work of everyone at TLM and the Tanzanian children’s cancer network.
