Christmas at Killruddery is all about celebrating the coming together of friends and family. Each week until Christmas, we light a new candle on the Advent wreath, symbols of hope, peace, joy and love.
We are delighted to announce our 6th annual Visit Santa Claus experience. This winter, Mr and Mrs Claus await visitors in our House & Gardens – and the transformed Horse Yard – magically lit and decorated by the elves.
At the heart of our winter wonderland is the time-honoured art of storytelling and musical performance. Santa’s elves will be orchestrating music workshops – hand-making percussion instruments to sound through the twinkling, wintry Gardens in search of Santa Claus.
This year, we want to experience the joy of giving rather than receiving. As elves serve warm milk and cookies, Mrs Claus will help all children compile and wrap a small gift for a loved one – and select one of our three charities to donate a 50c token: Their Lives Matter, Mary’s Meals & Barretstown.
After meeting Santa, we have gift-away Nibbles for Christmas Eve preparations – including Killruddery’s own-recipe cookie dough, a carrot for Rudolph and seeds for planting next year!
Workshops are provided in collaboration with Me and The Moon.

Craft
Guided through the homespun eye and techniques of Sally Horn, of The Sally Garden, participants will make a traditional Christmas decoration in the gorgeous Orangery setting. This workshop is all about rejoicing, relaxing, & creative crafting – with lovely mulled wine and mince pies to make sure all our Christmas spirits are kept toasty warm and burning bright. Take home your own floral masterpiece to hang with pride on your door!
(Please note that you must present your membership card on the day of the event)
FAQS
All plant material, frames and tools are supplied but if you have something special you want to add to your wreath, we encourage you to bring it along.
Please wear warm thick soled shoes, and have an extra layer on, depending on the weather the orangery might not be as warm as we would like.
Please allow yourself plenty of time to get here.
The Christmas Farm Market will be on in the Grain Store and Horse Yard, so do allow time to visit that after the class!
